(3) Diploma of Engineering Technology in Electrical and Electronics (Marine): The proposed program has the following objectives: to produce professionals and highly skilled human capital specializing in Marine Electrical and Electronic to meet the current and future demand of marine related industries in the country as well as abroad; to train and develop technical entrepreneurs in the field of Marine Electrical and Electronic who are ready to participate in the related industries; and to train and develop technical entrepreneurs in the field of Marine Electrical and Electronic who are ready to participate in the related industries.
Diploma of Engineering Technology in Marine Engineering (3 years): Graduates of the Marine Engineering program will have the opportunity to further their careers in a variety of fields including – Marine Engineering, Marine Survey, Automation and Control, and Hydraulics and Pneumatic Systems. Diploma of Engineering Technology in Ship Construction and Maintenance (3 years): This diploma is awarded to those who have completed the following courses: On completion, students will be able to: understand the fundamental principles of ship and boat construction; work effectively in shipbuilding and engineering planning and scheduling activities; comprehend the rationale for coupling a modern ship design with an efficient and effective shipyard/boatyard manufacturing system; comprehend that construction is closely linked with efficient manufacturing processes; comprehend the relationships that exist between the ship/boat build plan and yard scheduling activities; and comprehend the relationship between shipbuilding and engineering scheduling activities.
Upon completion of the Diploma of Engineering Technology in Ship Design (3 years), graduates will have the opportunity to further their education and careers in a variety of fields such as – Metal Works & Fabrication, Naval Architecture, Technical Design/Draught Person, Shipwright, Hydraulics and Pneumatic Systems, CAD & CAM Programming, CASD Programming, and CNC Machining.
Programs leading to a Bachelor’s Degree
A new four-year Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Hons) in Marine Electrical and Electronics program has been developed in response to a new requirement from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the vast array of maritime services that include electrical and electronic services. The program was developed with assistance from shipbuilding and ship repair industry professionals. As the nation’s need for progressively liberalized Marine Electrical and Electronics services grows, this initiative will help to meet that need. Marine Electrical and Electronics services include ship communication, ship navigation, ship control and monitoring systems, as well as ship weapons systems.
Degree Program in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding (4 years): The Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding program is designed to prepare graduates to enter the workforce with a solid background in Naval Architecture technology as well as a range of practical skills that can be put to use on their first day of employment. Through the study of subjects in the areas of Mathematics, comprehensive mechanics, design theory, and interdisciplinary theories of mechanical and computerized engineering knowledge, the curriculum at UniKL MIMET is intended to provide students with a broad knowledge of shipbuilding engineering, as well as the development of creativity and analytical skills through study of subjects in the areas of Mathematics, comprehensive mechanics, design theory, and interdisciplinary theories of mechanical and computerized engineering knowledge.
Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Hons) Marine Engineering (4 years): The program’s objectives are to produce professionals who are competent in the field of marine engineering technology in order to meet the current and future demand of the marine and related industries in Malaysia as well as in other countries; and, to train and develop technical entrepreneurs in the various sectors of the marine industry in Malaysia and other countries.
Bachelor of Maritime Operations (Hons) (3.5 years): Bachelor of Maritime Operations (Hons) Activities relating to shipping and port operations, maritime law enforcement, marine safety and environmental management, shipyard operations, as well as maritime auxiliary services such as banking, insurance, and bunkering, shipping agencies and freight forwarding are all covered under the umbrella term “maritime operations.” Prospective students will be able to choose from courses/subjects in five sub-areas, which include Maritime Transport Management, Seaport Operations, Maritime Law Enforcement, Business Management, as well as Marine Technology and Ocean Science.

(1.5 years, full time) Master of Maritime Operations and Management (1.5 years, full time): It is the goal of this postgraduate program to provide students with intermediate-level knowledge in the fields of maritime management and marine technology. It offers courses that can be divided into three categories: maritime operations, intermediate business management, and marine science and technology. These courses are designed to meet the needs of the current workforce as well as those who wish to pursue a career in the maritime industry.
