Discussion 1
The criminal procedure refers to the process of adjudication of the criminal law that starts at the formal criminal charge. The criminal procedure follows keys steps to achieve a good adjudication of criminal law. The initial step of the criminal procedure is the proper investigation of the crime committed by the alleged offenders done through a search, which is explored through inspection of a person or property (Samaha, 2016). Sentencing by the judge where the accused is found guilty, the judge gives a sentencing, which may be in different forms including fine, probation, and incarceration in a correctional institution or a combination. Most importantly, the criminal procedure is important to the modern criminal justice system as it is designed to guarantee legal constitutional rights of all persons charged with a crime. They are also designed to make certain that defendants receive due process and the protection of their constitutional rights.
On a regular day, privacy has a significant impact on the people’s expectations at their work, home, and in public. Privacy gives people the ability to enjoy their daily life without the fear of interference and intrusion from other people. In the workplace, privacy gives the employees the opportunity to perform their tasks through personal motivation and dedication. Surveillance in the workplace often places more pressure on the employees as it eliminates privacy (Samaha, 2016). Considering the modern culture, privacy is an important aspect. With the inception of internet and social media, people are always seeking to reducing the exposure to the public. It is important to ensure that privacy rights are respected as exposing the personal lives of people could destroy people’s lives by destroying their careers and public image. Today, the revelation of personal mistakes in the social media could hurt the image of a person and their ability to be employed in good jobs. Therefore, it is necessary to uphold privacy in the society today.
