Critical Annotated Bibliography

The Critical Annotated Bibliography should serve as the first step for the two-part
assignment that concludes with the 5-page Research Essay. The Critical Annotated
Bibliography will consist of the initial research stage of the assignment and it will be
comprised of 5 critical summaries of articles that should be incorporated into your
Research Essay. With this assignment, you will include a research topic statement that
provides structure and coherence for your bibliographic entries. Your entries should
ideally be related to each other and to the larger research topic you have chosen. It
should also ideally both provide a ‘snapshot’ of the research literature and an indication
of what your Research Essay will comprise of.
Assignment Requirements.
1. APA formatted Title Page
2. Research topic statement (2-3 sentences)
3. Annotated bibliography entries (x5)
4. APA formatted References page
5. Formatted in APA style: double-spaced on standard-sized paper (8.5″ x 11″) with 1″
margins on all sides, 12 pt. Times New Roman font
6. Abstract, page headers and section headings, appendix, and keywords are not
required for this assignment
7. 10% late penalty per day after May 24th.
Annotated Bibliography entries.
1. Entries are between 250-300 words each (x5).
2. Entries must be written on quality, peer-reviewed, academic articles (typically from a
scholarly journal).
3. Each entry must include at least 1 APA formatted in-text citation. This in-text citation
should be the article’s thesis statement or statement of intent.
4. Articles should be recent (ideally within the last 4-6 years—the more recent the better
for some technology related topics), relevant, and coherently related to your chosen
research topic. Your entries should also discuss the article’s main themes, methodology,
key findings and debates .
5. Articles should be related to one or more course concepts or themes. Your summary
of the articles should ideally attempt to demonstrate how it relates to the concerns of the
course and how you may use it for your Research Essay.
