“How to Stop School Rampage Killing: Lessons from Prevented Mass Shootings and Bombings” by Eric Bower is an interesting and thought-provoking look at what can be done to stop mass shootings. The author starts by talking about how there are more and more mass shootings and there is no end in sight. He then talks about why this is happening, including how easy it is for people to become indifferent to violence.
The author then shows how we can stop these things from happening by looking at examples from around the world that have worked well. In his conclusion, he says we should work on improving mental health care and making it harder for people who might be violent to get guns. This source will help me with my paper because it talks about the problem in detail and suggests possible solutions. The author also gives some statistics, which can be used to prove my point.

They noted that effective interventions must be based on evidence from rigorous research, and they cited a series of articles on this topic published in JAMA Psychiatry between 2015 and 2020. The authors emphasize that most forms of gun violence are preventable, but they also note that efforts to reduce firearm-related injuries have been hampered by a lack of funding for research into their causes and prevention. Branas et al discuss several promising interventions that hold promise for reducing gun violence, including reducing alcohol availability at crime scenes, educating people about safe storage practices for guns and ammunition, improving data collection on gun crimes, preventing domestic violence offenders from accessing firearms and increasing the number of gun safety courses.

The strategies that were most helpful for me when searching for credible sources were looking at the author’s credentials, evaluating their purpose and point of view, and reading the introduction and conclusion. I found these strategies particularly helpful because they helped me determine which sources were most appropriate to support my argument.
3. What difficulties did you face while searching for credible sources? How did you overcome these difficulties? (2-3 sentences) I found it difficult to find credible sources that were specific to my topic. I also found that there were many websites that did not have an author listed, which made it hard for me to evaluate their credibility. To overcome these difficulties, I narrowed down the search criteria and removed all of the results that didn’t include a full name or author.
