Reflection on OBERSVING
Read and reflect on the chapter: Discovery Skill #3 Observing, from Dyer, J., Gregersen, H., & Christensen, C.M. (2011). The Innovator’s DNA: Mastering the five skills of disruptive innovators. Harvard University Press, 89-111. You can find it as PDF “Chapter_Observing” .
Based on the reading, write a brief reflection post that explains what did you learn from the material and how it relates to what you know about DT. This is your reflection so you decide what kind of themes, ideas, examples you want to refer to. There are many options here, for example, you may:
summarize key points and prioritize them and reflect on this, and/or
consider if there is an application for organizations, and/or
illustrate ideas/solutions used by the company(s) of your choice, and/or
make an association to a different article/book, and/or
reflect how you can apply these learnings to yourself, and/or
recall your own experience that is somehow linked to the chapter content.
Both words of praise and critic are welcome here. Just make sure that you identify at least 3 insights.
Suggestions for writing a good reflection post:
Dive deep and use the proper names and terms (e.g. for particular steps in the DT process or particular tools). Do not state obvious (like writing that DT process has x stages, and these are…). Do not be superficial – be specific. Do not copy content from available sources – conduct your own analysis and share your own insights.
Feel free to respond to posts of other students. You can learn a lot from one another. Also, when you give feedback, you increase your chances of getting some feedback too.
