Strategic planning project | Operations Management homework help

You will fill the role of a newly hired quality executive at a midsized health system. The health system has developed a bad reputation for a lack of quality in the care provided to patients. The board of directors is looking to you to lead efforts in the organization becoming an accountable care organization (ACO).

You will begin to prepare for your final project with this unit’s assignment. You are asked to use the scenario described above to create an elevator speech. Regardless of whether you are a new executive or a mid-level professional, it is always good to have an elevator speech ready. You never know when you need to make professional small talk with the company president in between meetings or in the elevator. The elevator speech is a great way to begin a strategic planning project because it is a simple layout of your plan and on what you are working. Write an elevator speech that answers the following questions:

What project are you working on?
What immediate goals for strategic planning have you set in this phase, and why are they important? (Be sure that the listeners to your elevator speech understand the benefits of strategic planning.)
What internal and external factors have you identified that will help enhance strategic planning?
What do you need from the higher-level executive? (What is your “ask”?) Your response should be a minimum of 500 words.

________________
As the newly hired quality executive at our midsized health system, I am currently leading efforts to transform our organization into an accountable care organization (ACO). Our health system has developed a poor reputation for providing inadequate care to our patients, and it is crucial that we take action to improve our services.

In this phase of our strategic planning project, we have set immediate goals to improve our quality of care, reduce costs, and enhance patient satisfaction. These goals are vital because they will allow us to provide more efficient and effective care to our patients, ultimately leading to better health outcomes and a more positive reputation in the community.

In conducting our strategic planning, we have identified both internal and external factors that will help enhance our efforts. Internally, we are working to engage all members of our team, from physicians and nurses to administrative staff and support staff, in the planning process to ensure that everyone is on board with our goals and strategies. Externally, we are seeking to collaborate with other healthcare organizations and community partners to leverage their expertise and resources to achieve our shared goals.

As we move forward with our strategic planning, we will need the support and collaboration of our higher-level executives. Specifically, we need their buy-in and commitment to investing in the necessary resources, including technology and training, to implement our strategies effectively. We also need their guidance and leadership in navigating the complex regulatory and financial environment of healthcare.

In summary, our strategic planning project to become an ACO is a critical step in transforming our health system into one that provides high-quality, patient-centered care. By setting immediate goals to improve our quality of care, reduce costs, and enhance patient satisfaction, we can ensure that we are providing the best possible care to our patients. By engaging our internal and external partners, we can leverage their expertise and resources to achieve our goals. And by working closely with our higher-level executives, we can secure the necessary support and resources to implement our strategies effectively. Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to working with all of you to achieve our shared goals.
